iWisoft Free Video Downloader was designed to detect video files in any webpage and download them with one click. The program includes a monitoring function that you can enable or disable at any moment. When active, this function shows you an alert as soon as an online video is detected (e.g., using Firefox). This alert includes a thumbnail of the video and a button to start the download.
The program is supposed to detect video files in many formats, including FLV, SWF, MP4, WMV, ASF, MPEG, MOV, AVI, and others. Besides, it can also detect online audio streams, allowing you to download them, too. This tool was designed to download multiple audio and video streams simultaneously, as soon as you add them to the list. Theoretically, this program would allow you to download audio and video streams from virtually any webpage containing an online video player.
As of my testing, this program leaves a lot to be desired. Firstly, every time I opened a webpage with an online video, the program detected the same file several times during playback, which may be very confusing, of course. Besides, the time given for you to decide if you really want to download the file and click on the "Download" button is very short. In other cases, the program was not even capable of detecting an open online video stream. To top it all off, I could not play back any of the files I managed to download completely. They were always corrupted or invalid files. There is also a manual download mode, but it is hard to find, and yields the same unsatisfactory results. The program's website says it includes a built-in FLV video player, but I could never find it.
Therefore, I would not really recommend this tool to download online video or audio files. There are many other similar tools that are much easier to use and more efficient than this one.
